When did you start puffin solventless and what inspired you to do it?
2019. I’d been smoking some really good rosin from Michigan by a company called Superior solventless. They have a strain called purple pebbles that is still some of my favourite hash to this day. I was making plenty of BHO for almost 10 years prior and finally moved on to a healthier, better product.
Tell us about some of the biggest challenges you have faced as a hash maker?
Biggest issues I’ve ran into are finding proper strains that produce enough flower and resin for the process to be profitable. When they don’t produce it can be a five figure loss really quickly. And you still end up having to work to just minimise loss.
Are there any recent trends in the hash world over in the USA?
Lots of hype stuff for sure. We love our hash hole donut joints that have flower with a snake of hash in the middle. Some of the combinations of flavours can be quite amazing. Also I noticed a lot more “thumbprint” jars. Which are different consistency rosin made into fancy designs in the jar.
What do you love most about being in the cannabis industry and is there anything you would change if you could?
I like that a lot of what we do is new and some of our techniques are being made on the fly. Some of the coolest things I’ve seen are people just being creative in making hash different ways. It’s awesome to see, and sometimes you can get inspired from other peoples designs.
But I would like more customer information to be available. Lots of people seem to follow brands for reasons other than what they should be properly educated in.
Do you have any exciting plans for the future for Puffin Solventless?
Future plans always include more merchandise and trying to get some packaging developed as well. But always trying to push the brand as much as I can all over the globe so everyone can enjoy.
Who is your biggest inspiration in the game right now?
Most of my biggest inspirations are the other brands closest to me that I get to see making some amazing new products. People like Sugar Magnolia Farms, Good Grease, and Anudai Farms. That always drives me to come up with new ideas and try to give back to the community as much as possible. I always love doing the giveaways and stash and dashes. People seem to love those and I always get a kick out of how excited people are to go out and find them.
Where can we catch puffin in the future? Any events or shows you recommend?
You can always catch us on the first Friday of the month in downtown Los Angeles at Lifted Veil Gallery. There’s a pinball tournament that happens every Friday and we are there on the first Friday with our booth. You can always catch us every year in Barcelona for Spannabis and our product can be found at the Kush House in Barcelona during the month of March while supplies last. Lol otherwise you can always keep an eye on the page for updates. We’re pretty good at promoting where we’re going to be.
