One of the most daunting tasks for cannabis patients is understanding the differences between the many hundreds of strains available. Many first-time patients will be introduced to terms such as “Indica” and “Sativa”, However, the cannabis plants contains hundreds of different compounds that can affect not only the taste and flavour but the effect. For instance, a strain containing a high amount of the terpene Myrcene will likely cause drowsiness. This is good if you’re suffering from a confdition such as insomnia but not so good if you want a ‘daytime’ strain that doesn’t make you feel drowsy.

 We’re building a Strains database that differs from other directories, such as Leafly or Medbud.wiki. In our database we want to provide a comprehensive list, not only of strains and availability but their medical properties too. We can do this by looking at the strains Certificate of Analysis and matching the compounds to our understanding of their effects on humans.

To do this we need our communities help since the number of strains is vast and growing every week.

As we build the database it can be put to many different uses. This includes recommendations for specific patient conditions, making it easier for patients to identify the strain that may work best for them.
